Vision Assistants
NOTE: 2010 Vision Assistants are still being finalized.
Vision Dance is pleased to welcome our fabulous senior and junior assistants. We are excited to have four local studio dancers who have graciously decided to share in our vision and support such a worthy cause.
Alexis Salmi
Alexis Salmi graduated in 2007 after dancing competitively through high school and went on to be a member of the nationally ranked UNC Charlotte Dance Team. In addition to competing herself, her passion for working with young dancers drove her to get involved in assisting, teaching and choreographing. Alexis has pursued this love for dance through her hometown studio - the Academy for the Performing Arts in Apex, NC.
In addition to training with many well known choreographers, Alexis is motivated to be involved in every aspect of the business of dance and the dance community. Hoping to one day share her passion through her own studio, she is grateful to share in this experience and thrilled to be a part of the Vision Dance Convention.
Amanda Ting
Amanda grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina where she began dancing at the age of three. She received her early dance training at Susan Byrd’s Dance Creations along with Vision Dance founders Amy, Mariah and Angela. Amanda continued her training at Pierrette Sadler Danceurs as a member of the Power Company.
As an undergraduate student at North Carolina State University, Amanda was a member of the NC State Dance Team from 2003 to 2005 and a member of Fusion Dance Team from 2006 to 2007.
After a hiatus from studio dance, she returned to study at the North Carolina Dance Institute under the direction of Kirstie Spadie in the summer of 2007. While at NCDI, Amanda had the opportunity to assist with choreography for NBC-17’s Tree of Lights (November 2007) and Strut ’08 (May 2008) in addition to teaching hip-hop during the summer of 2008.
Over the past year, Amanda has been choreographing and coaching dancers for high school, collegiate and professional dance team auditions. Currently, Amanda is living in Washington, DC and is a student at George Washington University studying to become a physical therapist. Amanda is thrilled to be a part of Vision Dance again this year!!!
Sneha Ramanan
Sneha has been dancing since the age of 3. Over the years she has concentrated in tap, jazz, contemporary, hip hop, ballet and Indian Classical Dance. Her personal favorites are tap, contemporary and hip hop.
While growing up she enjoyed being a member of her studio’s competition company for 12 years. She has attended conventions nationwide and has had the honor of taking classes from choreographers like Yvette Glover, Derick Grant, and Alvin Ailey. She enjoyed her time on the UNCW Varsity Dance Team mainly performing for tournaments.
Her highest accomplishment was in 2004 when she reached the level of Presidential Scholar in the Arts as a semi-finalist with Indian Classical Dance.
Since 2006 she has had the pleasure of being a choreographer and instructor at The Academy for the Performing arts in Apex, NC.
